Top level management for insurance companies, excess and surplus lines entities, and national/regional brokers. Director level insurance jobs – AVP, VP, COO, CEO.
+ Insurance Sales Jobs (Producers)
Insurance sales jobs are typically for agents interested in working at retail insurance outlets. These insurance sales personnel focus on personal lines, commercial lines, employee benefits, life, annuities, etc. These are the agents that are responsible for bringing in new business production.
+ Benefit Administrators
Benefit Administrators may work for an insurance agency or a non-insurance entity. Sometimes this role is combined with the Human Resources function, although larger companies have separate positions for this. They administer the workforce benefits packages, handle enrollments, field questions, and assist with changes.
+ Insurance Managers & Supervisors
Insurance managers and supervisors are anyone with direct reporting responsibility. Supervisors usually handle day to day direction, hiring/firing, reviews. Managers usually have fewer direct reports of a higher level and are responsible for P&L.
+ Insurance Account Executive Jobs
Typically an Account Executive does not have new business production goals. They are usually the main point of contact for the client and the corporate face for the client. Their focus is on retention of business, either commercial lines or employee benefits group business.

Insurance Customer Service Representative Jobs are internal positions within a retail agency or broker. This title usually refers to property & casualty segment. They are responsible for general service, typically not marketing, and have lighter technical knowledge than account managers.

Underwriting insurance jobs are available typically for insurance company personnel in all segments. Underwriters evaluate the risk and decide whether or not to offer insurance and at what price and terms. The underwriter is there to protect the financial assets of the insurance company.

Insurance Marketing Jobs are for field marketing representatives that manage a territory of retail agencies or agents. They are the representative of the insurance carrier and handle things such as the introduction of new products, negotiating incentive contracts, or acting as a liaison between the carrier and agent on a variety of issues.

Claims insurance jobs are focused primarily on claims adjusters that work for an insurance carrier, an outside adjusting firm, or within an insurance agency. They determine liability, when a claim should be covered, and the amount of coverage available. At a higher level they are also involved with negotiated claim settlements. Medical Case Management Jobs & Nurse Case Manager Jobs are for specialized claims professionals utilized by Workers’ Compensation insurance companies or TPAs for self-insured plans. Typically they are a registered nurse. Their role is to help review claims and monitor treatment or rehabilitation. Some of these professionals work inside an office doing reviews of medical reports and some work in the field and are more involved with the claimants.

Risk Management Jobs are for individuals that are in charge of managing an overall risk plan for an entity. Duties could include the purchase of insurance, but also include designing other forms of risk transfer. Risk managers specialize in the identification, assessment, and prioritization of risks. Typically a risk manager works for a large corporation or a municipality.
+ Insurance Loss Control Representative Jobs
Insurance Loss Control Representative Jobs are for specialists that typically work for an insurance company, a fee for service company, or a large regional or national broker. They visit commercial lines accounts and evaluate the exposure to risk and potential ways to mitigate that risk. Sometimes they are specialists in certain areas, such as Ergonomics, Environmental, Products Liability, etc. Some of these professionals are also engineers.
+ Insurance Actuary Jobs
Insurance Actuary Jobs are for individuals that analyze the financial costs of risk and uncertainty. They use mathematics, statistics, and financial theory to assess the risk that an event will occur. These assessments are used to develop the appropriate premium rates for a given risk or a class of business. Actuaries are typically employed by an insurance company and hidden away in the basement.
+ Insurance Premium Auditor Jobs
Insurance Premium Auditor Jobs are typically for individuals that seek to be employed by an insurance company or a contract firm. These individuals conduct premium audits on site at a commercial lines property & casualty account. They review the accounting records of the insured to determine that the appropriate exposure has been applied to the rate(s). Usually they are auditing payroll or sales records.

They usually work heavily in Excel with census data. This is detailed work and accuracy and speed are very important.

Typically these positions call for a specialization in certain areas, such as employment practices, products liability, professional liability, etc. Sometimes the positions will involve management of outside litigators hired to assist on certain claims.
